Keeping The Romance Alive By Writing Letters Of Love

writing letters of love

It’s no secret that the handwritten letter is a dying art form. But what if you could revive it and use it to keep the romance alive in your relationship?

Since the 12th century, handwritten letters have been a popular way to communicate feelings. And for a good reason – there’s something special about receiving a handwritten letter, especially if it’s from the person you love.

With all the distractions of modern life, it can be hard to find the time to write a letter nowadays. But making an effort to write a letter to your loved one is well worth it.

The Magic Of Love Letters

There’s something magical about a handwritten letter that you just can’t get from an email or text message. A love letter is a perfect way to express your feelings and say things that you might not be able to say in person.

And it’s not just the words that matter – it’s also the physical act of writing them down. The process of putting your thoughts into words and then seeing them on paper can be very therapeutic. It can help you to communicate your feelings and sort out your thoughts.

Plus, there’s the added bonus that your loved one will have a physical letter to keep and read over again whenever they want. A handwritten letter is a beautiful way to show how much you care.

A few years ago my husband decided that he wanted to give me a special gift for our Wedding Anniversary. Without my knowledge, he began to write inspiring and encouraging words daily in a carefully picked journal for 3 months solid.

It was a romantic gift on that special day that far outweighed flowers or chocolates because I knew that it took him time and thoughtfulness. Still today, when I’m having a down day I can pull those beautiful writings out of my bedside table and read those letters of love to lift me up.

How To Write A Love Letter

Writing a love letter doesn’t have to be complicated. All you need is a blank sheet of paper and a desire to write from the heart.

Step 1: Make A Plan

Writing a love letter is not a one-time event. It’s something you should do regularly to keep the romance alive in your relationship. Set aside some time weekly, or even daily, to write a letter to your loved one.

Make it a habit and stick to it. When the urge to write arises, write it down or schedule a calendar reminder. Do it for your lover even if they don’t want you to! You never know how this could advance your relationship in a good way!

Step 2: Get Into The Right Mindset

Sit down in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted. Make sure you have plenty of time, so you don’t feel rushed. Start by taking some deep breaths and focusing on how much you love your partner. Picture their face and think about all the things you love about them. This will help to get your creative juices flowing.

Step 3: Brainstorm Ideas

Once you’re in the right mindset, it’s time to brainstorm ideas for what to write about. Think about all the things you love about your partner – their physical appearance, personality, how they make you feel, special moments you’ve shared, and so forth.

You can also write about your hopes and dreams for the future or things you’re grateful for. The possibilities are endless!

Step 4: Start Writing

Once you have some ideas, it’s time to write. Let the words flow from your heart onto the paper. Don’t worry about grammar or punctuation – just write whatever comes to mind.

If you get stuck, try writing without stopping; you might be surprised how good your writing is when you look back at it.

Step 5: Edit & revise

Once you’re happy with what you’ve written, it’s time to edit and revise. Read over your letter and make sure it sounds like you. Delete anything that doesn’t feel authentic or adds nothing of value.

It’s also a good idea to read your letter out loud to see how it sounds. This can help you catch any errors or use awkward phrasing.

Step 6: Add A Personal Touch

Now it’s time to add a personal touch to your letter. You could include a special photo, a pressed flower, or even a small gift. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something that has meaning for you and your partner.

Step 7: Send It!

The final step is to send your letter! You could mail it the old-fashioned way or even deliver it in person. However you choose to do it, just make sure your partner gets the letter.
